We are thrilled to report that we have come through a crime-free period including the December festive season – no mean feat given that incidents of crime tend to spike during this time. The combination of our automated tag system, proactive patrolling, our dedicated response vehicle and above all, community involvement, is proving to be valuable in our efforts to keep our neighbourhood as safe as possible.

The WhatsApp groups per street have proved to be an extremely valuable tool in keeping us vigilant. Recently a suspicious vehicle alert was posted on the groups and as a result, we had hundreds of eyes and ears on the street noticing suspicious behaviour and vehicles in real time. But while the WhatsApp groups are great to keep residents alert, they cannot replace calls to the control room. It is important that residents call the Savika Control Room to report any suspicious vehicles or behaviour on 0861 234 737 / 011 234 7434. Calling the control room sets in motion a series of more urgent and traceable actions. And it goes without saying that time is of the essence in foiling would-be criminals. So please save the number on speed dial and let the trained response officers investigate worrying elements in the neighbourhood.

With holidays approaching again, please remember the following safety tips:

If you spot an unfamiliar vehicle, with 2 or more male occupants in your neighbourhood call it in.
Criminals drive through neighbourhoods slowly to check for any weaknesses that they can exploit – report this if you see it.
Check the security measures in your home and on the perimeter of your home and ensure that all elements are in working order.

We wish you a safe and restful holiday season .
